Make sure to visit the events’ official website for the latest news.

The best Christmas fair in Europe will open to the public on the 18th of November.

Voted Europe's best Christmas fair for the second time last year, Advent Basilica will be back in 2022, bringing its cosy atmosphere together with all the sights, sounds, and smells of this wonderful festive season. Visitors can expect to enjoy a 12-metre Christmas tree, light painting, a selfie point, an ice rink, and nearly 120 quality craft and gastronomy exhibitors, all situated in the square in front of St Stephen's Basilica in Budapest.

“Where Love Holds Hands”: this is the slogan of the 12th annual Advent Basilica, which will open to the public on the 18th of November 2022, and just like previous years, the organisers of this year’s event have pulled out all the stops to ensure that visitors can experience a festival atmosphere like no other.

The Christmas Fair in St Stephen’s Square is one of the most beautiful festive events not only in the Hungarian capital, but also in the European region, as evidenced by the fact that it has twice been named "Europe's Best Christmas Fair", beating similar events in Vienna, Gdansk, Basel, Prague, Brussels, and other cities.

This year's fair will host nearly 120 national exhibitors, including both craft and gastronomy vendors. Alongside the most popular festive dishes, all of which are crafted from only the finest ingredients, the fair will also offer a range of local delicacies, in-keeping with the spirit of the event. These will feature street food and barbeque dishes, as well as dishes from the local tavern culture, including venison stew, authentic Swiss raclette, lamb roast, goulash soup served in bread, and sandwiches filled with12-hour smoked pulled pork or pulled beef.

Fair goers can also look forward to a wide variety of events and activities, many of them new this year. One such feature is the projection of a light painting onto the façade of the Basilica every day, every half an hour from 17:30 onwards. During the breaks, a special selfie point will also be available, where the adventurous can create their own unique designs before taking a photo and posting their creation, complete with one of the Christmas messages available in 48 different languages from the selfie machine.

In the central part of the fair, there will be a beautifully decorated, 12-metre-high Christmas tree, as well as a free skating rink for children, with skate rental and skating lessons also available.

To top it all off, the wonderful atmosphere will be further enhanced with live festive tunes every day, including everything from gospel, folk, and jazz to funk.

Advent Basilica is open from the 18th of November to the 1st of January in Budapest, in St Stephen’s Square.
