The first golf swing was allegedly made by a Scottish shepherd when out of boredom he hit a rock with his crook, which then accidentally fell into a hole dug by animals. According to other theories, a similar game was played in the Low Countries and China. Whatever the truth might be, the fact is that nowadays this sport is a favourite among people who want to be outdoors, be active and take part in something elegant and social. Hungary has numerous golf courses with amazing views that are suitable for professional golfing.
Budapest and its surroundings
You can test your skills on three golf courses in the capital. The nine-hole Continental Citygolf Club awaits visitors in District 3, the nine-hole Highland Golf Club in District 22, and the first complete golf centre in Pest, St. Lőrinc Golf Club, in District 23. The nine-hole, par 36 golf course consists of long, comfortably wide course sections typical of racetracks. The course includes a par 3 practice course in three sections, a driving range with 18 bays and a nine-hole putting green. One of the oldest Hungarian golf courses, the Hungarian Golf Club is located near the capital in Kisoroszi.
