Budapest Autumn Festival invites both inhabitants and visitors to a grandiose overture of the cultural season of Budapest in the form of exploration and adventure. It encourages us to be open to novelties, to look at our environment with fresh eyes and to listen to each other’s stories with curiosity.
Here and different – the capital city first launched Budapest’s contemporary festival thirty years ago, and it is to return in a renewed form this Autumn. This year it can also be browsed and enjoyed along different thematic concepts, and for this, we recommend nine experience routes to visitors who are curious about independent creative minds, each offering an opportunity to participate in the festival while discovering the city, community stories, foreign artists, and local characteristics. This festival provides an opportunity; it positions and connects; it encourages partnership, collaborative thinking, and fertile creativity; it provides the space and occasion for novel initiatives. For these few short weeks, Budapest’s public spaces will assume important roles: abandoned shopwindows will be converted to galleries, parking lots will be filled with contemporary dance, and squares will become stages.
