The 16th to the 18th of September 2021 is the celebration of pálinka in Hungary!
This is a celebration that significantly contributes to the preservation of the cultural value of pálinka and its status as a ‘Hungarikum’ (something uniquely Hungarian worthy of celebration).
The festival was originally known as the “Kisüsti” Pálinka Festival and was first held in Gyula in the year 2000. At that time, the true value of pálinka had yet to be acknowledged in the country, and the festival was the first to take up the promotion of this Hungarian drink.
Gyula is now the pálinka capital, and this year the Castle courtyard will play host to the 21st occurrence of the Pálinka Festival between the 16th and 18th of September 2021, paying homage to this unique and noble ’Hungarikum’. This Hungarian spirit is at the centre of Hungarian national pride, and Hungarian gastronomy simply would not be the same without it.
