Three unmissable spas in Hungary

Zalakaros Spa and Adventure Bath Zalakaros Balaton

Did you know that Hungary is the fifth most important country in the world for thermal water, after Japan, Iceland, Italy and France? So it’s not surprising that there are a plethora of medicinal and thermal baths all over the country for people who want to relax.

However, most bath complexes offer not only relaxation but also have wellness and spa services, as well as adventurous water attractions. Sauna worlds, adventure and children's pools, and exciting slides ensure that there’s something for everyone, making these spas the perfect place for a family vacation.

Aquaticum Debrecen SPA

The Debrecen spa has been popular for decades, but it started booming in the 2000s. Ever since then, Aquaticum has been a key player in Hungarian spa tourism, where all generations can have a great time. What got the ball rolling was the construction of the Mediterranean Experience Bath, which was followed a few years later by the modernisation of the thermal bath and the hotel. Aquaticum opened its most spectacular section – the Aquaticum Debrecen Beach – in 2021. It boasts a number of unique architectural elements, and what it has to offer is remarkable: the beach area has 15 pools, with eight slides and a 12-meter-high main building with sun terraces and two swimming pools. There is a separate water world for families with children, where even the littlest ones can safely splash and play, while parents can enjoy their rest. In addition, slides, water rides and cave baths provide thrills, while you can unwind with the help of the sauna world, medicinal water pools and relaxation therapies.

HungaroSpa Aquapark (Hajdúszoboszló)

Europe's largest spa complex has a magical atmosphere, but the focus is not on the aesthetic but on spontaneous relaxation: HungaroSpa Aquapark offers 45 pools and plenty of water adventures for visitors. The spa complex in Hajdúszoboszló has a very family-friendly environment, and they have created a real paradise for children's entertainment: the pools decorated with lifelike elephants, the colourful children's slides and the modern playground are sure to keep the little ones engaged. But that's not all. You can also use the giant four-lane competition slide as a family. You can test your speed in a thrilling competition, and various other sporting options allow you to put your skills to the test. The themed pools, the sauna world, the slides (including one that is 8 meters high), the rock-climbing wall in the extreme zone... Listing all the things to do in Hajdúszoboszló in a difficult task, so it's worth visiting for at least a few days.

Zalakaros Spa and Adventure Bath

The indoor and outdoor adventure pools at the Zalakaros water wonder park boasts a pool complex with more than 20 aquatic attractions. A water paradise has been created for children: the little monsters can move from island to island above the pool area on the suspended corridors, and they can battle each other with water cannons. Babies and toddlers can splash around in the water playground, there are also slides for preschool and primary school age groups, while older children can splash into the water from the rope climbing frame or pick up some speed on the big slides. Children can even try out a sauna experience in a special children's sauna designed just for them. But the Zalakaros slide park is not just for children: in addition to the traditional chutes, there are also extreme slides in the spa area, which adrenaline junkies will love. The Adrenalin Slide Park is a complex of five slides with some extreme sections. It stands out from its surroundings as the launch area is nearly 20 metres up, where anyone aged 12 and over can enjoy themselves.
